Deck lighting
Sitting on your deck as the sun goes down makes every evening feel like a holiday. It’s a pity to have to go inside as dusk falls… Add lighting, and you will be able to use your deck as an outdoor living room, right up until bedtime, if the night is warm enough!
Desk lighting can be divided into three categories: lighting that does a job, lighting that creates atmosphere, and lighting for security.
Lighting that does a job, such as illuminating a barbecue area, needs to be bright and reliable. This will normally mean that it should be mains powered.
Lighting to create atmosphere can be softer and prettier. Low-voltage LED lights look great in spots, tiny sparkling strips or nets. Just imagine how romantic your deck could look… Solar powered lights provide a warm glow, for a different feel, and have the benefits of being easily moveable and a doddle to install, and costing zilch to run. These can light small areas and provide focal points.
When you are designing lighting for your deck, have a think about security lighting, too. Some sensors and security lights around the perimeter of your garden will give you peace of mind.
